Senior Test:

You are going to be making a theoretical “film” of this book.

Money is no object, nor is time, since you won the lottery. (just imagine this!!)

You do not want to be one of many names of lottery winners, but rather you want the book, Bild Ohne Rahmen, to be synonymous with your true creativity.

You are to write a short proposal of your plans for this Indy film. Make all that you include the most convincing and interesting writing in order to “sell” it to potential financial angels.

Part I is in Englisch.

Part II is in German.

Part I:

Characters:

Write a the list of all characters, both major and minor. You might want to include some of the “extras” as well.

Next to each character include a short personality, or appearance of that character. If you can think of a “real” actor as a suggestion, include them and write why you think they would be appropriate for the part.

Setting:

List in order the scenes and locations you will be using. Either describe or sketch with some detail how you envision the setting to appear.

Write the scenes each will be used.

The colors that the artist chooses are not always realistic. They do this to create a certain feeling in the person looking at it. The shape of the objects and people are not realistic either. Green faces and slanted people are some examples that an expressionist has used before.

Characteristics: creative use of color (green faces), figures in formal clothing, informal poses

Art during the expressionism uses the imagination. colors were wither black, or a pastel. Since the camera had been invented, dreams and thoughts were depicted. Artists no longer created pictures to resemble actual life.

German Expressionism often were painting of people in formal dress who were posing informally. Also expressionists used different, lighter colors fro their works. Sometimes they even used odd colors such as green for the skin color. this art was much more casual than the earlier impressionism.

I learned that it uses bright colors in different ways than usual such as green faces. German expressionism uses big brush strokes and informal positions with formal clothes.

Uses colors that may seem “abnormal”, like green for skin on people.

Art style, somewhat distorted images, color scheme that isn’t natural (like green people)

I learned that in German Expressionism that the pictures were drawn in elegant settings but with casual poses. Also they did not use colors that the objects were in real life but they obscured it with different shades of other colors.

Expressionists use bright and vivid colors, but impressionists use dull and boring colors. Expressionists use different styles and patterns in their paintings, whereas impressionists are all basically uniform.

German expressionism is abstract. It is not normal pictures with realistic colors. It uses bright and vivid colors.

They use abstract things. The colors don’t blend. one picture had green faces. They paint whatever they want and call it art. The put people with unordinary things on into ordinary pictures. Paul Klee was an expressionist.

They use many contrasting colors and they draw things how they see them in their own minds.

I have learned that German expressionism is characterized by dark colors and a more impressionistic look, rather than a photographic look. Also the subjects are in formal clothing and standing (posing) informally.
